Since the fifteenth century, Persian rugs have been handwoven in the ancient city of Tabriz, northwestern Iran.
Recent Tabriz rugs woven in and around the city of Tabriz are workshop productions. They are usually double-wefted with a cotton foundation and asymmetrical knot. Knot densities range from about 40 to 400 knots per square inch.
A good Tabriz has a short and rough pile. The patterns can consist of a centrally placed medallion surrounded by arabesques, weeping willows and cypresses.
This carpet has a very rare cotton thread which calls نخ چله پنبه‌ای , This yarn, which is made from the fibres of the cotton plant. Cotton yarn is produced in raw yarn or single yarn in cotton cleaning factories and enters the market.
Single-layer yarn is converted into other types of yarn for use in carpet weaving, either manually or by machine. This yarn is produced with unique specifications for each of the benefits of handwoven carpet weaving stages.This carpet has toranj elastic design, the elastic bergamot design in the abriz carpet is one of the most common designs woven by the weavers of this city. In most parts of iran, such as abriz, this design is implemented on carpet texture. The beautiful and famous design of lalek toranj is from shah abbasi school.
